SPOLIERS...
At first glance, this show had very interesting characters, setting and drama.
The fact that this woman was doing prescription drugs and drinking was the hook for the show and is what got me invested. Is it her psychosis? Schizophrenia? is it all real or none of it? These questions was why I was watching. The mystery of murders and the combination of a woman suffering with some hallucinations and through her past traumas makes for a very interesting mystery... it could have been anyone...
But apparently, I was mislead. This was a satire series... It was easy to tell sometimes, but mostly it was confusing. Some moments were extremely corny and dumb. Whether it's touching hands 3 times and becoming OBSESSED or the terrible script and writing.
The series couldn't decide on what it wanted to be. In the description it says nothing about being a mock of thrillers. I wanted to take it seriously because that was the overall tone. The satire is missed and is replaced by bad writing and acting which is conflicting with the tone of a murder mystery because it was pure goofiness. It was hard to watch when the cringey moments happened due to it being so left field at times.
Kristen Bell is a great actor. So it's not her fault this fell into the drain. If it wasn't for her acting skills carrying this show on her own, this would have 1 star. If it was some D actor, this show wouldn't work. She is honestly the only good actor in this show.
The show was extremely disappointing and the ending to the main arch was frustrating. They had many opportunities to create something messed up and make you feel like it worth the watch in the end.. but it wasn't.
Please don't fall for the trailers. It's really not worth your time if you are looking for a good mystery to get sucked into.
