Before I went to see Pinnochio, I checked out some reviews and, upon seeing the one star comments, I'll admit I was expecting a highly disturbing and disjointed narrative. However, after watching the film, I was captured by the charm and authentic feel of the story. Yes, there are disturbing or frightening moments woven into the fabric of the narrative, but i think parents are forgetting that the original Pinnochio also features several of the more freaky moments within the film-live action does not mean that this version is any more creepy than the 1940 version. The visuals are stunning, showcasing Italy's sprawling fields and country side landscape, and the colour palette is simply beautiful. The narrative unfolds at a rambling pace and seems to change direction swiftly, which might be a little confusing to little ones. The theatre was full of children who laughed along with the story, captured by the amazing visuals and the imaginative story. In short, I'd reccomend it!
