I love these movies! Me and my 9 year old son went and saw Inside out 2 in theaters today. My son is ADHD and autistic, these movies are phenomenal at giving a visual representation of different emotions in a way that’s easy to understand. I also love these movies, I always sob when watching the first one. This one did get me crying but it wasn’t as much of a tear jerker as the first one. Both movies do a great job at explaining why each emotion is there. My son isn’t quite a teenager yet, so he did have a couple questions about the new emotion “anxiety” afterwards. But like I said the movie represents each emotion very well and creates a learning opportunity for parents to explain further. Inside out 2 does touch on puberty, but it does not include sensitive subjects. The main focus is the more complex emotions that come with growing up which I appreciated and parents are free to explore that further with their kids if they wish. Like I said, my son is ADHD and he didn’t have any issues sitting through the entire movie. It was engaging and kept my son entertained the entire time. I recommend watching these movies with your kids, it’s a great way to open up the conversation about different emotions with your kids. I know my son has been able to say “hey I’m relating with anger today” and it helps us to explore that in a healthy way. Highly recommend!
