You know, I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I do, now that I've binged it all, but... Whoa! Whats not to love?
Simple but active plot- there's a clear goal through this series, and a pretty good rate of character growth. for Bryce and Monkey! Okay, Monkey has more of a poignant, almost Simba-like realization of character and destiny, while Bryce is... well, dead. His constant jabber makes up most of the dialogue between the duo, but it's so annoying and word vomit-y that its actually really funny, especially considering it makes the actual monkey the semi-rational one. How's that for subversion?
Of course, Bryce and Monkey aren't the only ones we follow in the series. I gotta say, the different perspectives rounded out the story really well, from the two cops to the political side of things.
That aside- the MUSIC. I am listening to it as I type this. It is excellent and fits so good with everything, aside from being really fun anyways.
Okay, now the animation. It is the reason I didn't have a lot of hope for liking this series when I saw the trailer for it. BUT. Although it does look a lot like archer's cheap-ish animation, the action scenes deliver HARD, and the rest isn't actually so bad. So I can forgive them for that. I'm not taking away a star for it. If you like anti-heroes, or the Deadpool aesthetic in general, Go! Watch! Hit Monkey!
