I don’t understand why this movie got such wonderful reviews. The acting is mostly uncomfortable and awkward and the story is beyond insipid and focused on unabashed wealth and hedonism. Aside from an opening sequence of abhorrent racism when the British hotel employees refuse a booking to the young Asian family demanding the best room in the hotel, the remainder of the film was an exercise in painting a picture of wealthy excess in brutal and undemocratic Singapore. I would not recommend this movie and suggest you just flip through YouTube videos of Singapore. That way, you won’t waste 90 minutes waiting for something interesting to happen.
