Christopher Plummer is typically brilliant in a film imbued with excellent actors. Most young soldiers love and are willing to die for their country, even if the leaders of that country are unworthy of their honor and sacrifice. This film explores the complex humanity and morality of individuals, not the median characterization of the whole.
