Sometimes I feel like this movie showcases the same struggle which was showed by our freedom fighters against the English Men, their hardship was paid worthless, the workers were treated like scum taking advantage of the each second when they got the rest.
This movie showcases the incident 147 workers of India’s largest automobile manufacturing company Maruti Suzuki are on trial for the murder of a senior manager and 2500 workers dismissed. It has been two and a half years and the case drags on. Their bail application has been rejected by the courts. On each hearing they are led to the courtroom by the police while families line up to catch a glimpse. Defense lawyers plan their strategy in the court canteen which atlast comes out just as a waste. Justice seems a dim hope. The film (120 min, 2015) follows the fate of the under trial workers, families and terminated workers to investigate the underbelly of industrial conflict and the elusive nature of justice.
It’s a shame for all Indians that these controversies or struggle were still raised in 20th century. Even the government of Manesar was not ready to file a case against the so called Maruti Suzuki Company, all which was happening there was a political drama. Though the funding for the ruling party was also done by the company, the government had no left option to protect the company and punish the workers because the workers had only no one to accompany them to justice, it was a shocking fact that the accused were not even granted bail for the first 2 years even after they had no witnesses against them.
