Mythical Beast

Yes it is a mix of Bourne identity meets the matrix with a. Sprinkle of avengers end game. This type of movie is up my alley if you only watch the trailer, and read the synopsis. Definitely a movie I should have liked. I had a lot of great ideas of what I thought was going to happen, but it never did. A lot of missed and failed opportunities. I love mark Wahlberg, but this wasn’t it. The fighting scenes were “ok.” The ending was not as satisfying as I expected it to be. This gave me Matrix resurrection vibes because the protagonist like Matrix movie featured Evan McCauley: a man who has loved his entire life not knowing he has not tapped his latent abilities that he is suppose to recover from His past life. Ends up being a badass blah blah blah. Why does this sound familiar? Oh yes we already have like 5 Jason Bourne movies. The protagonist dies at the end of the movie? What happened to Tom Hughes character Abel? Did agent shin even get Closure? Did she set anyone free? I was really hoping for more of a build up to treadway learning his latent abilities in more vivid details, i get that he went through some mysterious machine that unlocked some other memories but i feel it should have been more difficult given his brain was damaged. If the bomb was disarmed why did still explode. In his present life I was also hoping he’d have a love interest. None. I really wanted to like this movie, but I feel like there’s too much missing.

The character Diana is very interesting. However the fact that the main characters ie: the mother son, and sister have such nonchalant interaction with Diana, (especially the mother) is just all too weird. Saying lines like “the three of us” which implies Diana said by the mother was cringeworthy at best. The backstory of Diana is very thought out, however the premise of the movie seems very rushed, and a lot of backstory unmentioned. I rate it a generous 3 stars.
