I just finished this book and while I have never written a review before, I felt compelled to write one for this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, like really enjoyed it and devoured it in a couple days. True like the other reviewers said this is not a traditional memoir so I did feel bit disappointed. This is more Misinfomation that anything else. So the title is half true, fittingly so.
If you want a real glimpse into the mind of Jim Carrey, this book is that. That is what I found so interesting and entertaining. It showed a depth to Carrey that I knew he had being that I loved him in one of my all time favorite movies ever “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.”
I highly recommend this book, especially in Audiobook form. The narration by Jeff Daniels is pretty spectacular.
There were so many truths and beautiful sentiments in this book. It had an honesty and vulnerability I really felt oozing from the page. Jim Carrey is a true artist and magician with the written word.
Is there any real structure to this book? No. Is this a fantastical tale? Yup.
It is a take on Memoir I hope to see more often.
I watched a documentary on Jim Carrey that also showed a glimpse into his spirit but, to hear it from the man himself was truly a delight and different, delivered in a way only Jim Carrey could do.
You might love this book, you might hate it, but it will stir your emotion either way- as all great art does.
If you’re looking for a traditional memoir, you might want to pass but if you’re looking to be entertained and spend some time and get to know the true Jim Carrey, misinform yourself today.
