I learned so much about this part of our country’s history! And the characters were so vividly presented that I felt I knew them personally. I hated to see this book come to an end, so I listened to the audio book twice! I also enjoyed the author/narrator interview at the end. It gave insight as to how the book evolved over a 3 year time span.
