This is the best book I have ever read. I was born in 1936 and remember many reports of what was taking place at that time. Also the uncertainty and fear the world faced. Although not living in the U.K. or Europe during this period, the World was living on the edge. Follett captures perfectly the difficult and uncertain environment the world faced at that time.
