This movie is like John Shea's " Grey Lady" but without the wild herring in white wine sauce or scalpels and needles. Its akin to " Beautiful Girls" or "Tres Lounge". In one scene the ghost of Walter Pigeon strolls in...except he looks like Totie Fields. Its important to know many things...one of which is alcohol gets in the way of joy, unless you enjoy misery.

Look,man....this whole A24 slow creep towards a kaleidescope of chaos ending, like with " Hereditary" and " Midsommer" is getting tiresome, especially when you can't figure out if Hellboy or Mickey Rourke has a cameo at the end. This is similar to John Shea's " Grey Lady", in that the mundane only seems mundane until you realize it wasn't at all. But what was it,then? A slow ferry to Nantucket is like a walk in the Icelandic countryside. The action....is the juice.

I like this film a great deal. I think it suffers in the 3rd act with a hurried, too convenient chase scene and dead silence between predator and prey near the finale. It begs for a moment for Russell to deadpan " Why?" We don't get it. But I am glad he found peace.

I liked this movie, but like others recently , it got too cute for its own good in the third act. " Nobody" and " I Care Alot" suffered the same fate. Both of those films start out very dark and grow glib as the ending nears...and I don't find that endearing. The same fate happens with " No Sudden Move". Remember " Uncut Gems" and the dread you felt all through it? Why chop it off and go comedic? Its a bad move....for " No Sudden Move".

"Grey Lady" is not about anything you are watching on the screen. Like " The Shuttered Room" and " The Bird with the Crystal Plumage", you will wish you possessed deeper insights...but if you did....you may have gone mad by now. Nantucket in this film is the " Insane Lady" from room 237 in " The Shining". Unnerved? Welcome to the island. Enjoy your stay.

The lead male actor here is miscast. He was Boone in "Justified" and a demented orderly in " Hannibal", and that is where he belongs. Playing twisted, evil little dudes who eventually get what twisted, evil dudes deserve. And there is some subliminal, Woke virtue signaling here I can do without, thank you very much. Bottom line: nope.

People are too harsh with this film. No, it isn't " Ocean's 14" , but it will age well as a thoughtful, contemplative vision of where this planet is headed. Brad Pitt makes " Ad Astra", Damon does " The Martian" and Clooney comes back with his third space-themed film after " Solaris" and "Gravity", to great effect. Some of the space station scenes felt contrived, but so what? At least David didn't show up with a face hugger to ruin this film, too.

This was a brilliant effort, but I might have appreciated a Burger King or bathroom break. I was suffocating as the film progressed. And did Locke really need to take off at that moment in time? Strains credulity a tad.

Didn't think I would like this but its impossible not to. You can tell the ensemble enjoyed a chance to get a little campy. Toni Collette can do more with her eyes than 100 actors. 007 talking like Strother Martin. Don Johnson light years from Sonny Crockett. And Christopher Plummer in a role Tony Hopkins would have eaten a pound of fava beans for.

Slick, well done and never boring, but it falls apart at the end. Del Toro comes through a horrific ordeal with little explanation and visits someone whose career choice he has all wrong. The young girl was outstanding. I will watch S 3 but hope the script is better.
