All I can say about this movie is: WOW.
I will say that I was angry with Andrew for breaking things off with Nicole at first, but after finishing the movie I wholeheartedly believe he made the right decision. To be a great musician, it's quite literally worth the blood, sweat, and tears. You can't have any distractions; all you do is practice, practice, practice. The plot twist of Fletcher attempting to embarrass Andrew when he tells him, "I know it was you" referring to the previous event that led to him being fired from Shaffer was insane and incredibly written. I was not expecting Andrew to come back to the stage and perform "Caravan" and after, he just keeps playing wildly. At first, Fletcher is incredibly pissed at him, but as the song goes on, we begin to see a smile form on his face that doesn't go away. By the end of the movie, you can tell that Fletcher is proud of Andrew and achieved his goal of "having a Charlie Parker."
Miles Teller has such great acting in this film, his talent does not go unrecognized. I would consider myself a musician as well, but I never felt quite the drive that Andrew did. He got what he earned and proved to his former teacher that he WAS enough. Not only does he portray courage, but he is also persistent and hard-working. I'm glad this film was put on Netflix, I don't think I would have even heard of it otherwise. One of the greatest movies of all time. It's going in my top 10 for sure. If you haven't seen this movie before, it is a worthwhile watch. Music fanatic or not, we all want to be good at something, and we're all passionate about something.
