I have about 3hrs left of the audio book… It’s been a slog. After all of the excitement, racial politics, history, intrigue and wonder of the Inheritance cycle I was really looking forward to Murtach’s redemption arc. Where will this dragon and rider take us I excitedly thought… Well… Nowhere really. It’s like a series of side quests that lead our intrepid hero through the same potential learning curve we would have witnessed him experience had we seen more of his journey with Galbatorix. All in all, the book is pretty underwhelming and I’m sorry to see it’s got more of the ‘Eragon film’ energy than the previous quadrillgy of books…
