The more you think about this series, the more holes you'll find. Hard to say too many without spoilers, but people watching stuff without audio probably don't know the conversations that occur in the scenes they watch. Yet this is integral to the plot. Using a rat as a "seed" makes no sense even within the suspension of disbelieve we're expected to have. When Lily gets to confront her boss, her most pressing question is "What is DEVS?" when in fact she has NEVER had any cause to care much about that. Many other questions, but that would've been far from her mind. But we needed the dramatic conversation I guess. Though by "dramatic" I mean "very slow", like most things in this show. With a lot of hand-waving to make it seem like "hard" SF rather than "soft". Not recommended.
