this game is amazing. best controls for any mario, best art style, best cast of characters. but the issues this game has weigh it down so horribly. first off you can only have one save file, not a big deal if you have a physical copy since you can just use another account and get another save file then, but if you bought it digitally you cannot start a new save file, I learned this as I was trying to set up a new game for me and my mom to play and we both were losing it trying to figure it out. next is the difficulty, I can count on ONE HAND how many times I died from start to finish. there is no challenge to this game whatsoever which is so disappointing because all I can do is ‘wonder’ how they could’ve used the amazing mechanics to make an actually challenging game. but my biggest issue is the length of the game. I beat it in under a day. i’m not sure how many total levels are In the game but it seems to be pretty similar to the amount in super mario world, a game that came out in the 90s. why should we be settling for such a low amount of levels in a 60$ game? modern games with a levels system can have hundreds if not thousands of stages and get frequent free updates for more. there is no reason nintendo can’t do the same. also this game could’ve been made 10 years ago it’s not super revolutionary, nintendo is just lazy as hell. it’s worth 5$ at most. it needs LOTS of free updates to redeem itself.
(p.s. there can be frequent lag spikes during transitions and stuff which is not a big deal but the fact that there is any at all in such a simple game is embarrassing)
