While I was enjoying the book because of its frank language ( which is more often than not very coarse) , I was quite surprised that it is racial and quite opposite to what he is trying to preach. on page 83 he says" if you are starving and living in the middle of India, an extra ten thousand dollars would affect your happiness a lot". Now, to single out a country an naming it as if he had starved and stayed out their is quite racial and insulting and contrary to what he is preaching. He goes on to say that the $10k would make no difference had one stayed in the western world, which is presumptuous. In actuality, the people in India are far more grounded and non-materialistic and money ( or the lack of it) would have little impact on their happiness, which would make a lot of difference in the western world. While he preaches in the book that Materialism is a bane, the example is quite the opposite and stinks of high-handedness, racism and shallowness and it is clear the author does not believe what he writes.
