Absolutely terrible. At the end, when they FINALLY had a plot point I liked, he looks for a remote and rewinds time so it didn’t happen like what?? Forget how completely frustrating it is, you shouldn’t watch this film based on how absolutely mind numbingly boring and slow it is. There are a ton of scenes that are quadruple the length they should be. If you can watch this without skipping ahead, I really commend you because you have a whole lot of patience.

It starts pretty slow and when I watched episode 3, I really debated giving up on it. However, I decided to watch one more episode and I’m glad I did because I ended up binge watching the rest of them. I found it was a lot more interesting after you started learning about what was going on and who people were before they got there. By the time I finished, I was hoping there would be a second season. I was surprised to see so many bad reviews but many of them I’ve seen have been based off the first 2-3 episodes. If you can get past that, I think it’s worth the watch!

3.5* I can always appreciate a movie that’s fast paced and grabs your attention from start to end, I think this movie did that. Acting and effects were also spot on. It had a great premise and I’d agree with other reviews that said the writing was better in the first 2/3 of the movie. Overall, the movie was serviceable and I’d recommend it to anyone that’s a fan of survival action thrillers. **WARNING SPOILERS BELOW** What I think bothered my most was the amount of times Harp was left alive. Why would the resistance leader tell him all their secrets and then just let him go?? With apparently enough time for him to walk back to the base, warn them, and set a plan up to stop it. Then he’s left alive again by Leo in the ending scenes? It just doesn’t make much sense. I also found the ending a little abrupt, it would’ve been nice to see what happened to the program after the fact.

I guess I just don’t get it. Is cinematic just another name for boring and slow? Why are the worst movies with “visually appealing” effects always the highest rated? It’s actually hard to find a bad review on this movie and if you do, it’s from a fan of the book who didn’t see their exact vision come to life. I’m also glad I didn’t watch this when it first came out. Its literally only half a story! Completely obvious it’s made from a book and ending in the middle of the plot. Movies with no real ending suck every single time. In theory, I love book to movie adaptations. In practice, it hardly every works without changing the store completely. Often the adaptations are not interesting enough for the non-reader, but not enough detail for the people who read the book. From other reviews I’ve seen, it stays very close to the source material but that’s also probably why it feels so drawn out!

Some great dancing in this one and lots of it. But wow the acting is just so cringe. The main character should be Moose, and in my mind, he is. I’m not sure why they’d choose the leader of the group to be someone who can’t act OR DANCE. Pay attention to Luke and you will notice he’s never featured dancing. Instead, you’ll see shots of him in front, then he’ll quickly disappear when the real dancing starts. I had to skip the through a lot of parts of him and Natalie too; zero chemistry and so boring. I can’t even say the bromances are believable with him. Overall, the movie was okay but I think it could've been much improved with better lead actors.
