The developers felt it justified to have the game kill off Joel, in a gruesome manner, then in the ending have ellie take the moral high ground by sparing the life of the playable antagonist. The game goes against basic reality, even for a fictional game. Blood for blood. Ellie would've been more justified in killing Abbie, because it was Joel who spared her when she was the sole antidote for curing the world. Trash
