I have see Black beauty 1994 and it is much better then this one. The 2020 version was aiming for a "lonely girl finds friendship with a horse" thing having bits of the old classic film and book.
A personal annoyance I find is how the main girl acts towards her uncle, being ungrateful for a roof over her head and food in her stomach. Saying "nobody understands me but you, beauty", despite the fact that unlike other people talking to her and comforting her ( which annoys her), the NON speaking horse is the only one understanding her feelings without replying back to tick her off.
And whats worse, they focus on the girl and the horse leaning toward something like flicka instead of the horse experiences through life, meeting the main kid in the beginning, being apart for some time, and reuniting at the end!
They even add a love story to Joe's charater!
However, I though the scene with beauty and Terry and the little bit with Jerry had the most depth.
I recommend seeing the 1994 version of Black beauty because it its touching scenes, beautiful music, and heartwarming ending.
I give this one 2 stars for its efforts in attempting to remake a classic, only to make a cliche we have seen before.
