As a Muslim this was very conflicting. I feel as though the integrity of a culture was kept and the reality of rights, marital inequality, and flaws of society were portrayed with respect to this specific culture/religion. The acting is superb and the writing properly evoked every scene of pain, sorrow, happiness, adversity and triumph. However, instead of writing a new story among the many familiar stories of cultural acceptance towards domestic violence and infidelity, it chose to romanticize it. It promises a happy ending to mistreatment. With that being said, one can interpret the message differently, which is small strides towards change like the women standing up for themselves and their identity, can not only make progress for women who follow them but can win the respect they deserve.
