I have never written a movie review in my life and I honestly wish I had read up on this “film” before I gave it a chance. Like most of the viewers, I figured “Oh the kid from 13 reasons why and it’s a new thriller! Let’s give it a shot!” I should have shot myself in the head instead. Not only is the entire movie a bore up until the last 15 minutes, there are so many missing pieces and loose ends. It’s also not one of those thrillers that allows you to decipher what happened through your own perspective, there is literally nothing to go by or to create a plot that makes any sense what so ever. A nearly blind kid with olympics goals and his widowed mother move to the middle of nowhere after the father is mysteriously taken down by a vehicle in a grocery parking lot. (&His death is never talked about in a mysterious way) Some psycho next door lady who has no part in the story other than to be weird as hell. And some hot black dude (a stranger) in the small town who apparently becomes their protector on the night of all 3 unexplained murders. I have so many questions. Martha, what is your deal? Plumber guy, why even send him in if he’s not part of the plot? Why does Naomi never call the sister and ask what the deal with her weird neighbor is? Why does Logan never tell his Mom about their interaction when Martha accuses him of being on their land? Why did the killer break all of Naomi’s fingers? Why did Logan break the stair in the basement and there was a ton of focus on it, only to have it not play into the story at all? Why did they kill off all the main characters and make an attempt at a cliff hanger ending when it literally just made no sense? Who was the killer? What was the motive? Why did they make it seem like it was the guy who went into the basement and never came back out? Or the Plummer possibly? Why was the basement blocked off all weird like the catacombs? Why did the Mom have a weird uneven mullet? Too many questions.
I was highly disappointed with this film and the only thing that I enjoyed about it is that I am not alone with how horrible it is. If I could give it 0 stars, I would.
