I love interior decorating shows but I REALLY love Home Town. Laurel, MS, reminds me a lot of my hometown in Ohio and I recognize those little old houses from my childhood that Erin and Ben turn into gems. I think it's great that they remake these old houses instead of tearing them down. I like the way Erin decorates; her interiors are so real and accessible for normal people. Some of the other shows do beautiful interiors but they tend to be a little cookie cutter. Not everyone wants all-white or all-gray or open concept or even a kitchen island, and not everyone has a house big enough for the "suite" of big kitchen, island, adjacent dining table, adjacent sitting room, adjacent mudroom, adjacent office.... Erin and Ben make normal, smaller homes comfortable and personal and they use color and they reuse materials.

Beautiful settings and costumes, absorbing story (kind of familiar).
