A disappointing sequel. Part 1 set us up to believe something magical or fantastical was about to happen. In my view that didn't happen. Too much time spent in the desert staring into space. Less og the prophetic dream sequences, very little of "the voice", not enough of Paul's mother in an active role. Little character development from before. Battle sequences are not exactly exciting and it all seems to be over quite quickly at the end without much action having taken place. The point is that the story could have been just one movie instead of protracting it into two. Quite a let down in my opinion.

Pretty awful as a movie since the characters are not believable at all. What parent wouldn't fight to the death to save their child? Instead these two barely put up any resistance as their child is mutilated. Then they capitulate to their own murder without being threatened by any weapons or force. It's pathetic. I am probably missing some kind of deeper meaning here. However, as far as a credible story goes, this one isn't.

Overrated, self indulgent, zero plot. Ultimately...... rubbish. I really wanted to like this movie because it started so well with it's cinematography and quirky mood. It had such potential to explore the characters and develop into an interesting story. However, it never really went anywhere and there was no central plot or aim. This left me feeling incredibly disinterested. It was just a collection of random events. Some interesting, some really not. The lack of a central story and pace made the movie really drag. It's not hugely long but felt like a marathon to watch. A promising start, but no follow through. I know that film snobs and buffs will love it but for average movie goers this is like ridiculous abstract art with no meaning.

I nearly switched off after the first few minutes. I thought this was going to be another cliched, plotless movie propped up by countless battle scenes. I'm mighty glad I decided to continue watching. What ensued was a beautifully well woven tale. The story unfolds as it is told from each of the main plot members' perspectives one by one. Each new telling of the tale adds another layer and, by golly, the plot surely does thicken. Well worth the watch!

So often I watch movies that critics have panned only to find I love them. This is a fine example. OK you could say it's corny, cliched and overly emotional in some ways. However, the high quality acting along with with a heart wrenching subject matter, a slow unwinding pace, and the real human characters made this a great watch for me. I found it extremely moving and watched it again a year later. I was equally moved the second time. Don't listen to the harsh critics.

Amazed at the poor critic reviews. For me it was a visually stunning and thought provoking movie. Yes, it's not action packed, but that's the point! We had to experience the same tedium as them on the ship to feel it. Despite the lack of action there was still a palpable tension throughout. Lawrence's reaction to being told she was woken up by Jim was also spot on. I've watched a string of poor movies recently and this one was a breath of fresh air. Critics - get out of your own arses.
