This album signifies a pivotal moment in the genre of East Coast rap, but not just for its gangster appeal, or its gritty beats, or not even for its above average rhyme sayers featured on the project. This album is important to the building blocks of rap history because it a direct signifier of a time before now. Everything from the way the rhyme scheme were patterned, the the style of clothes and even down to the choice of haircuts that State Property had was a vivid insight to what Philadelphia had to offer the world and Roc-A-Fella Records as a brand, label, and lifestyle. In my opinion this album was a five star effort.
