Had this movie been done with more focus on characters, this would be been one of the best movies The movie is held only by the heroine thru out. All other characters are loose and motives are not detailed and not clear Music saved many below average love stories. Music and songs are also a big let down in this movie… This could have been a masterpiece, but lacks hard hitting emotional touch. Only Rukmini character stays and there is no emotional connect with others

Viduthalai is a mirror for people who choose to believe what mainstream media speaks and believe the popular version as Truth. The relevance of BR Ambedkar, Periyar and other social reformers today should atleast provoke such people to think why these personalities are invoked even today and how huge their contributions are ...vetrimaran truly presents his anguish and political views through cinema. He is a film maker who believes in sharing contrarian views and doesnt bother about commercial aspects. vetri, pa ranjith have spoken about the oppressed and present their views on big screens unlike a few other overrated directors who cater to elites and classy audience using real life issues as a backdrop.
