MVW Mark – Google

This, for me, the most memorable purchase in metal history. Was 15 years old and completely blown away at how good it was. The week prior to this release, Tommy Vance played The Rime of the Ancient Mariner on BBC Radio One Rock Show. I remember being excited all week after hearing, "Then the spell starts to break The albatross falls from his neck Sinks down like lead into the sea" Long week waiting but worth it. What an album. Even the less talked about tracks like Flash of the Blade. Brilliant. When I think Maiden, I still think "Powerslave" and Egypt stuff!

All Marillion albums with Fish are incredible. Script, Fugazi, Misplaced......, but Clutching at Straws is just an absolute masterpiece. The entire first side. Just WOW! Hotel Hobbies / Warm Wet Circles / That Time of the night....., unbelievable trilogy with rip roaring guitars and Fish's vocals are so good. Then White Russian? What can one say? Musically / Lyrically spine tingling. The second side, Torch Song, Slainte Mhath, Sugar Mice, of course Incommunicado for a wee dance. What an album. Fish leaves at their pinnacle. Both went on to record very good stuff....., Fish with his Sunsets on Empire album which is pure class and the Marillos most recent FEAR,; very good....., but Clutching, for me, is the very best Marillion recording.
