Shallow. Vapid. All the major plot points in the first half are discarded (almost mockingly, useless flashback style) going into the second half; it turns into tiny chaotic spikes of potential character building that evolves into nothing.
The film tries to be mysterious but the incredibly one dimensional characters/plot lead to most of the people in my theater laughing during most of the story-moving moments.
On occasion the camera work was interesting, but overall the film lacked immersion and depth. Left the theater without seeing any change in characters or the world it tried to portray. Big ol' Yawn.
Note to film writer: If you are going to put that much effort into an introductory character defining event, at least treat it like one.
