I wanted to like this movie so much...
Although I understood the messaging, it was executed terribly. Essentially the “ugly” dolls were picked on for being less attractive and for not being “pretty and perfect”. They were banished to a rundown city.
Songs included calling people U.G.L.Y. and pointing out flaws in noses, freckles, length of legs. Just went way too far for the targeted audience.
Our group of kids left saying, “That movie was mean.” The parents unanimously agreed.
