Hmm. So much promise. Turned into a predictable lefty rant against Empire, Brits, and Western progress in general. Apart from the PC preachiness, the tale was spoiled by the timeshift, hopping backwards and forwards. The story is so strong it simply does not need this gimmick. A linear telling would have sufficed. Others have commented on the quality of the SFX, but I wasn't so bothered by this. Anybody who remembers early Dr Who is easily impressed. I almost think a little naivety in the effects adds to the "BBC-ness" of the production... but I'm probably in a minority there! Shame, I genuinely thought the Beeb was going to deliver another Sunday night treat. How wrong I was.
