first season at best was entertaining enough.... but second season was cringe-fest. the story telling is rushed and made for preteens who are yet to be exposed to better writing. I can't tell if it's the terrible directing or bad acting that's making it so hard to even watch 1 episode without rolling my eyes. the script is based off the books but even the books' writing isn't as bad. I genuinely wanted to like the second season but nope I don't. For fantasy world fans, read the book... it's for teens but still better than the show. And in terms of the books, the crows series way better than the whole teen romance drama of shadow and bone where a century old man lusts after a teenage girl trope, and girl finds it alluring instead of disgusting, until she finds out he wants to kill her so she then notices the boys in her age group.

the one star is only because I think the main actor did a great job portraying his character - but even then he could not save the very very VERY excruciatingly terrible plot. SO MANY PLOTHOLES! so many things left unexplained and writer seemed to think that just because you classify a show's genre as "sci-fi" there's no need to explain why things happen??? What messy sloppy and lazy writing is this? I'm amazed this was approved and allowed to be in production. The show's theme and plot about the video game could have been done so well if creatives had given more respect to the audience and given reasons for all the problems in the game but they decided to just allow it to be a "mystery"?? extremely lazy technique and very disrespectful to the fans/ audience. The romance plots was UNNECESSARY and in the end frustrated me so much because it was not crucial at all to the outcomes of any part in the show. Cut out the romance and just focus on the technical parts of the game. Wasted Hyun Bin's talent on such horrible story writing. Also leading actress is way too young to have been a match for the main actor- their romance and chemistry was not believable at all, please only cast age appropriate actors together, it was like watching a young woman having a fantasy crush on her Uncle. Also the fact that they very specifically chose Granada as the place to focus on, the plot didn't even necessarily need to be in Spain. This could have easily began in Seoul or anywhere else... they seemed to have just picked Alhambra solely as some location tour partnership or something. Nothing about culture of the location made any real impact to the movie at all... they only tried at the end with some references to the Hand of Fatima etc... which could easily be replaced with something else. Wasted production.

what a waste of time watching this... so much could have been done with the plot but they made terrible decisions making this film such as the sloppy dialogues that's trying to be more thought provoking with endless silence and long pauses - just became boring and dull. also did not help when it seems to be filmed with poor lighting paired with terrible colour filter choices - very much like Twilight. UGH. wasted the actors talents for this film. Writer could have done so much more. wasted time and money.
