Honest review: it was okay. Not the best , not the worst of the Batman movies.
First I have it 3 stars because I do feel like the sets, feel, and overall art of the movie was enjoyable to watch and just the overall theatre was impressive. Robert is a good actor and I am a fan of his previous movies.
That being said he was not sellable to me as the Batman. Robert is lanky, skinny. He does not fit the Batman character of a fighter. The movie fails to really stick true to Batman’s story. They don’t show how Bruce came to be this masked vigilante. How did he learn to fight? Where do his gadgets and gizmos come from? Where is the origin of this batman. This was lost in the movie for me and I feel like it made Robert as batman even less likely.
The story unfortunately fell a little flat for me. I felt like I was watching a fancy law an order episode.
They didn’t go into cat woman at all! I’m assuming they just assume people know the story? But that just seems a little lazy to me. Also her outfit was confusing. It fit more of a bank robber than cat women. Also the dumb comments about how all white men are to blame and are evil…. Or lord eye roll.
I’m conclusion, I’d say that the movie was entertaining but definitely lacked depth. It was okay not great, a little long and drawn out at the end. I think it cool they tried to do Batman differently and that’s what they did. It’s different ! I think I’ll stick to the old movies in the future, won’t be buying this one.
