I am an avid reader who has read and enjoyed almost all of Kristin Hannah's books. Not so this last one, "The Four Winds." What a complete waste of time! The characters are one-dimensional, unlikeable, and somewhat unbelievable. A more interesting narrative would have been for Elsa to demonstrate her grit by seeking an education in Chicago, then returning to her hometown, where her family has fallen on hard times, and engineering their survival. Now I know why I went from #46 on the library wait list to #1 in record time! Last Hannah book for me to read. In contrast, "Night" is a searingly sad book, about incredible hardship and unbelievable cruelty, yet I have read it again and again.
