Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania
What an amazing way to kick off Phase 5! Quantumania has a plethora of responsibilities on it’s shoulders like starting a new phase, introducing us to the next big bad, setting up Cassie as Stature & with all this pressure, it must give us a classic MCU adventure. The movie has its flaws, the first 35-40mins feel super dragged, especially during the 2 parallel conversations which seemed never ending. CG was a hit and a miss, at times you will be in awe to explore this unique Quantum Realm, while at times you can clearly point out the use of special effects (especially during close ups). While a few jokes are bang on, especially with Scott & MODOK or Kang, while some other jokes were not required (atleast it’s not like Thor 4). Also, MODOK’s character needed much more depth which is why I felt the movie could have been longer or could have cut down the slow moments of first half to explore the characters. But is it really the 2nd worst movie of MCU? Definitely not! (Eternals is also not the worst, Cpt Marvel has that crown) The moment Kang enters the movie, you won’t be able to remove your eyes from the screen! Jonathan Major’s screen presence, the character work, the dialogue delivery, his every moment just shows that this actor was born to play Kang, the fact that how much This Kang Differs from He Who Remains (Loki) but was played by the same actor is commendable! Paul Rudd as usual nails the role of a confused and underrated superhero; and Kathryn Newton as Cassie was the surprise factor! I loved the father-daughter bond & how Cassie idolises her father! Hank has his OG Antman experiences, while Janet is the heart of the movie. It also has some really creative scenes & action and I enjoyed the second half a lot! Final Verdict: it’s definitely not a perfect movie, feels different from the other Antman movies as it has a different setting but performances (especially Kang, Scott & Cassie) & the story in the 2nd half deliver a strong MCU entertainer!
