I loved this series as a teenager and never thought they would make a movie adaptation. Someone who loved the books 100% made this movie. It barely strayed from the original plot, even while cutting scenes for a film version, left in the important parts. The additions and changes that were made were nice and made for a better movie without going too far from what it was originally supposed to be about. The special effects were incredible and captured Pretty Town/ the natural beauty of the smoke perfectly The casting was different than what I imagined but fit perfectly with the characters. Highly recommend, especially if you loved the series!

I bought this book on a whim after seeing the videos promoting it on Tiktok, even though it’s not my usual read and was pleasantly surprised. It was very engaging, well written, and like nothing I’ve read before. This author deserves the recognition he’s getting and I look forward to reading another one of his books!

It was okay. Not worth the hype. The ending was anticlimactic and the big "twist" was a bore seen a mile away.
