Heavy on atmospherics, this relentlessly creepy and mysterious horror holds the attention, with pieces of a disturbing puzzle gradually revealed, but ultimately leaves it to the viewer to decide. An original little gem.

Repetitive themes, endless backstories and near three hours of a meandering plot, ends up providing little in the way of scares, and plenty of time to daydream. The brilliantly tense Pennywise scenes make up some ground, but are all too few. A disappointing sequel (to the very good 2017 original) that's probably best avoided.
