The original song was great. I can see it as a moving anthem for tween girls everywhere. However the diverse casting could not hide the lackluster covers of classic r&b / hip hop songs that should have been left in their glory to be sung by someone else. With the exception of Billy Porter's musical performance the only standout somehow was by James Corden, father of Stormageddon, who appeared so briefly and yet provided much-needed comic relief. I wish the storyline push for equitable rights had landed, if it had, my time watching it would have been much better spent. I have no problem watching this movie while it plays in the background to my phone and that's about all.
