We got this game with my girlfriend to play together and were rather disappointed. First of all it says that it’s “two games in one” and it’s definitely not, just two difficulty levels maybe.
What annoys me the most is the game is designed for ONE player. There are no cooperative elements when playing together and the whole game is much easier when playing alone. Problem is that you can jump on each other’s head and push each other which makes it super annoying. This makes it super hard and frustrating especially on small platforms where two characters just can’t fit together so you either push each other off or bounce each other off. Some levels I had to do alone just because of this and in general the game is much more easy and accessible when playing alone which might be cool for some ppl but not for us since we got it to play together. I really don’t understand why there is not “no collide” option, that would make the game so much better.
There is also not enough content in the game for 60$ price tag. Yeah, there might be a lot of levels on the main map but that can be beaten fairly fast I would say maybe like 10 hours and then all the challenges and coin battles are just recycled levels from campaign... it’s literally the exact same thing. Graphics and controls are fine, but what really kills the game is how frustrating it is to play with two or more players... I haven’t played with four people, but it must be completely impossible again due to a fact that you collide with other players which results to killing each other off really often. The Super Luigi U is a joke - same map, same levels you only jump higher and slide more... it presents itself like a whole another game meanwhile it’s barely even different difficulty. Our progress was randomly lost couple times while playing with two players resulting in hour or two doing the same levels again... this never happened to me while playing alone. Definitely not worth the steep price and absolutely not a game designed for more than one player.
