So tired of horror films that reenforce cultural religious beliefs when they should be turning them on their head, like The Others did for instance. And of course witches were evil instead of liberated women at odds with patriarchy, horror is a subversive genre but this isn’t subversive, it’s status quo and boring. I should have known the coworker who recommended this wasn’t trying to just be friendly, she was subtly attempting to influence my poor godless soul.

Body horror. This film is about sexual sadism/masochism essentially. It feels erotic at first but then it crosses all the lines. There are graphic depictions of rape. Even for a hardened horror fan there were some moments when I had to look away.

Disturbing. Handmaids Tale comes to mind. A patriarchal cult using the name of Jesus for world influence & power leading to deadly consequences. The Wolf King episode Is infuriating in so many ways. I'm sick.
