We chose to watch this film because of the featured cast, particularly Natalie Portman and Jude Law. Instead of being entertaining, the film commenced with a shocking re-enactment of a school shooting, then commenced to retell the story of a 13 year old female victim, who had the nerve to attempt to deescalate the obvious rage of one of the young gunmen ostensibly to save the lives of her classmates. In my mind, she instantly became the heroine, who I thought was going to go on to raise the national awareness in the USA to the fact that there are far too many guns in the hand of civilians, and that the ready availability of these weapons to almost anyone was leading to a totally unacceptable level of gun violence in American communities. Instead, the viewer was led through a series of seemingly unconnected scenes that were difficult to follow, or even relate to the horrendous acts of violence at the beginning of the movie. The approximately two hours it took to watch this movie were definitely not the greatest hours of the two lead actors!
