I have clearly been spoiled with reading decent books with an actual storyline, and a few twists and turns and... AN ENDING!!! This book ends abruptly with no explanation for the first page to explain WHY the Nanny MURDERED the children in her care. I'm mystified. I have even come up with a better ending which may make disappointed readers feel better... (the daughter of Louise returns for revenge on her mother who never properly loved or educated or cared for her properly yet poured her affections into her charges). In summary, I don't think it was lost in translation, it just didn't work as a story so if as the cover states this was an international best seller, we should all get our money back!!!
