Its entertaining for sure and Fillion is in his typically predictably likable form, but The Rookie weighed down by some inconsistent writing and shameless going on embarrassing level of gushing for the LAPD. You aren't going to see much sophisticated portrayals here, everyone is honourable and selfless and no one ever beats or shoots unarmed black people. The scenarios the characters are involved in, while exciting at times, are so over the top it becomes a bit laughable. Worth watching but keep the expectations low and the political analysis off.
