I think this is a very well written and riveting book. The author makes it very clear that it is an “imagined “ journey of a mother and her son through the brutality that is Mexico and the cartels. It also highlights the sad situation in the US, where people are glad to take advantage of the “cheap labour” provided by the undocumented migrants but aren’t willing to let them become citizens. What a disgrace for a country that prides itself on being so progressive and a world leader. I do not have any use for those who cry cultural appropriation. These stories should be told by as many people as possible to bring this horror to light.
