I will say that movie (and its premise) had a lot of potential, but the writers and directors did a very poor job of executing it. The elements in the movie which were derived from the mythologies could have been made into a very impactful movie, first of its kind, but the movie seemed just superficial, all flashy vfx and a completely off pace. There was a considerable lack of proper writing, dialogues and direction. The pace of the movie was completely bizzare and off, the emotions were lost due to this. The actors, although great in themselves, gave a terrible performance, and one could blame the script for it. There were so many places where dialogues did not need to be so heavy. Overall, the movie will make one cringe on several occasions.
Overall, I am not sad, but dissapointed, because if only the director had a vision, and the writers made some effort to actualy build a story, a good story with a good chrecter build up, instead of just getting tangled I the cliche and melodramatic bollywood romance, this movie could have been great, and could have started a new era of fantasy in the bollywood, instead they completely ruined it.
You can feel the lack of a good writing from the very forst scene, the sets are beutiful, the premise has so much potential to become a full blown franchise, they spend so much money in hiring amazing actors. But what was point of it if without a good dialogues, decent direction, an impact full and engaging storyline. At no point in the movie will you feel your emotions stir, or will you feel engaged. Also, the movie fails to build up on the charecter of the protagonist, there is nothing striking about him or his charecter, he is just the typical bollywood hero mixed with the most cliche version of "the chosen one" trope where he is an orphan with hidden powers he is unaware of...and that's it. What drives him, what makes him unique apart from "wanting to be woth his girlfriend of 2 days", none of that has been established and explored.
Bollywood needs to understand that the audience has more options now, that we read and watch media from all across the world now, in every language and from every culture, and this half hearted rendering with a poor and superficialy spicy execution just won' won't anymore. And despite how well the movie did on box office, it is not something that would make yoi feel any thrill whatsoever ever, I swear i felt more thrilled and on edge while watching movies like "Naksha" (an old fantasy with quest) and movies like chak de India. Because they had good ialogies good build up, the chrecters had their own personality despite having to share screen time with so many other cast members. But Bhramastra fail terribly in all these aspects which gives life to a story. It has all the flash and tool to be great, but it's lack of writing and lack of direction,n and lack of vision to properly execute, has made the movie a shallow and lifeless rendering of a potential good plot. Its disappointing is all I have to say. And saddening.
The two stars are for the set, and the daring to put a new idea. But that's all.
