I have always loved Malayalam films. So, I might be biased whilst writing this review. Only Malayalam film industry can make such a beautiful film. (I am telling this as somebody from Karnataka.) No drama or no unnecessary loud music. If any other film industry had tried making such a film, they would have surely included at least one intimate scene. Not that I am against intimate scenes. But in an age where intimate scenes are unnecessarily included in films (mainly in other film industries), this film succeeded in showcasing the real theme without even including such scenes.
This is not a fast paced film. But this film shows the pain each one goes through. So, if one is looking for some kind action, screams, fights, dramatic moments, this film is surely not for them.
A superstar choosing such a role is commendable. I am sure that, none of the superstars will be ready to take on such a role. Hats off to Mammooty! Jyotika shows the pain that one goes through in an unhappy marriage. And Sudhi shows the emotions that one goes through when there’s nobody to support him. And the person who played Mammooty’s father’s role shows the guilt. The acting of all the characters is spotless.
People who are commenting saying that, this film gives a wrong message to the society need to be educated. Homosexuality isn’t a decease or something that one decides to be. It is something natural. Same applies to bisexuality and asexuality.
The acting is amazing. As always, Malayalam film industry gives importance to acting and story and not looks. Perhaps, that’s why none of the Indian film industries can beat Malayalam films.
