As the first show to bring Star Trek back to TV since the end of Enterprise, it has a very unique aesthetic amongst Trek shows. Sure, it’s made some controversial decisions, but ultimately those are surface-level and just serve to give the show its identity, while on a deeper look it shows it truly understands the heart and soul, and the fundamental political message, of Star Trek.
And just to make it better, as the show has continued, it’s really found its footing, and moved out of needing to constantly work on the basis of nostalgia, and is telling interesting stories that continue the progressive and hopeful legacy of the franchise
