So just watched the movie on Disney plus, so I will list my pros if the movie and the cons. I mean if you have Disney plus it doesn’t actively hurt to watch it if you are bored Spoilers of course Pros: .We don’t talk about Bruno slapped, love it so much .Liked another one of the songs .Amazing animation, that’s pretty obvious .Most characters are pretty solid but many underdeveloped .Has some really creative animation and concepts .I feel really sad for the protagonists and feel what she is feeling, she’s easy to relate too Cons:I feel this movie lacks both the time it needs to tell the story they want and I gotta admit the fact we stay in the house the whole movie is really boring .rest of the songs are lackluster and don’t see myself listening to them again .the fact on why the main character didn’t get a door is so confusing, I get the message that she will be the head of the family like grandma but she still counts as getting a gift and a room. .there is a lot of pacing issues .the trailer was so misleading oml, made it look like a family themed adventure like something of coco or book of life Overall not painful to sit through but found myself wanting to skip over so much of it. I think if it was about the main character not getting a gift and her leaving on her own as she feels unwanted and better to leave. But before she does she discovered magic is fading so sets off the find a way to save the magic. could show off some of the beautiful culture and geography of Columbia better as well. The fact that it takes place in one locating is boring. Then the family(most likely cousins and sisters) would go after her to help. Idk I’m not super great at story writing but just my idea. I watched this movie on Christmas Day, going into it I wasn’t to optimistic. I actually loved the first 30ish minutes of the movie and though while a bit rushed had a great set up. I don’t even mind the unique way of showing the great before and the great after, probably cause I don’t have any strong views on it. I felt like the first 30 minutes had some great jokes and character interactions. It all went down hill as soon as that stinking cat body swap happened. Omg the cringe was so unbearable. If you are someone like me who physically cringes then do not watch this part. I heard there where some great moments after this, just sucks it was ruined by all these unnecessary plot elements trying to appeal to kids. If you can handle cringe you can probably get through this.
