Not anywhere close to Sheridan’s best work. The female characters are loathsome and boring. The male characters, particularly Monte, Cooper, and rigging engineer Dale are capable in the roles, if only they had something meaningful and interesting to do. Landman, and all around problem solver Tommy has his hands full, but mostly with managing the outright nonsense perpetrated by his overpriced and undereducated wife, Angela, and his equally spoiled and only slightly more intelligent daughter Aynsley.
If the series had focused more substantially on the roughneck work and lifestyle, contrasted with the boom and bust high rolling crapshoot of Monte’s pedigreed business end, this show would be Yellowstone’s younger brother saddled up and ready to make 8.
