FYI This film is NOT a comedy. If every movie you wish to watch ends with your heroes and heroines triumphant, don't watch this nor continue reading my short review. Thought provoking and real for the times, The Last Shift portrays the brief relationship of two working class American coworkers from two slightly different backgrounds (race). Poverty is a b word ladies and gentlemen. Jevon is an informed, opinionated, young father of African descent (young brother). Old Stan is an aging white dude (Caucasian). Two souls just trying to survive in an environment of limited opportunity or prosperity. I initially selected all the stars but I took one off for its ninety minute run time. I'd love to share some more details of the film but I'll just throw out some topics the movie addresses:
Justice. Race (Institutional racism). Ethics. Tribal mentality. Stuck in a rut.
