Clark Kent – Google

Although I am enjoying this series to a certain degree, historical inaccuracy is what I find extremely annoying about it. Three things really stood out for me. For a start, in 19th century Turin Piedmontese was the language spoken on the street, while noble families and the courts probably communicated in French. Regional accents would be unheard of in this then small city. South Italians didn't move to Turin en masse until Fiat opened its factories, and the bulk of the South-North migration didn't really happen until 1950s. Most annoying of all, the swearing, especially by a woman from a good family, was very unlikely. Sloppy sloppy production. Bad netflix.

Casting Priscilla and her tired arse wigs (and terrible make up) was a mistake, but there is so much to like about this show: it's showcasing a different culture, a different style of drag [definitely not American where, although much more polished, queens often show a lack of personality and tend to be a copy of somebody who'd been on the show before], where the emphasis is on personality rather than lip syncing skills, entertainment over the now compulsory death drops. Long live differences!
